Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
Henry A. Madill

   Henry A. Madill died Jan. 25, 1922, at 11:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Levi H. Baumgardner on Bowery avenue, having been confined to his bed since Dec. 23. Mr. Madill had been in poor health several years.

   Henry A. Madill was born May 21, 1848, in New York state. He served with honors in the Civil war in company D, 69th New York regiment. He was married to Virginia Culy at Port Huron, Oct. 26, 1874. They went from there to Fort Suly, Dakota, and followed the army unitl 1877, when they returned to Port Huron, where they resieded until 1879, when they came to Gladwin county and located on what is now the Huber farm in Grout township. Later they moved on the farm on which is located the Grout No. 1 schoolhouse, where they lived until they sold to George Linabery and moved to Gladwin city in 1913. Mrs. Madill died here Nov. 4, 1915.

   Mr. Madill was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the I.O.O.F. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Anna Walker of Grout township, Mrs. Alice Baumgarder of Gladwin, Mrs. Delia Phillips of Clio, Mrs. Josie Brubaker of Grout township, and one son Walter Madill of Montrose. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. E. T. Smith.
