Edward Macklem

EDWARD MACKLEM


  Edward Gale Macklem, 57, of 222 Lakeview Dr., Beaverton, died Monday, June 10, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Clare Jan. 30, 1928, he retired in Nov. 1984 from the Stock and Receiving Dept. of Dow Chemical Co. after 33 years. He served in the Marine Corps and was a member of the Beaverton First Presbyterian Church, Beaverton Lions Club and the Beaverton Planning Commission. Mr. Macklem and the former Nancy Ross were married Feb. 21, 1959, in Beaverton.

  Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Mark of Beaverton; one daughter Cynthia Mercer of Beaverton; his mother, Mrs. Alice Macklem of Beaverton, 4 brothers, Bernard of Manisuque, Lee of Midland, Billy of Gladwin and Gary of Flint; and 3 sisters, Virginia George of Maywood, Calif., Lucille Imperi of Grand Rapids and Alice Thering of Coleman.

  Services will be held Thurday at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Aeron Davies will officiate and burial will be in the Beaverton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Visiting Nurses Association of Mid Michigan in Midland. Arrangements are in charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
