Laura Mabie
Mrs. Laura Mabie died May 20, 1921, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Hicks in Flint, where she went to make her home in February. The body was brought to Gladwin Tuesday, May 23, and services held at the Methodist Episcopal church of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. W. J. Cross, followed by burial in Highland cemetery.
Laura Saxton was born Feb. 20, 1854 at Tecumseh, Mich. She was married to Clark Ledrieu Mabie at Farwell, Mich., Sept. 27, 1877, where they kept a general store 10 years. From there they moved to Meredith where they conducted a shingle mill until 1894 when they moved it to Gladwin, and continued in the business until 1902 when they opened a restaurant ,at the east end of Cedar avenue. Mr. Mabie died June 10, 1920.
