Albin Lukowski
Albin Lukowski, 92, our loving father, grandfather, greatgrandfather and friend passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at Brian’s House.
He was born Feb. 24, 1915 in Bay City to the late John and Mary (Owczarzak) Lukowski. He married Helen Szczepanski in 1940 and she predeceased him on Aug. 8, 2004.
Albin was a World War II veteran where he served his country with the US Army Tenth Mountain Division in the North Apennines Mountains in Italy. Awarded the Purple Heart, Albin was proud of his military service to his country.
Albin worked for Dow Chemical Company and later retired from Aerospace in 1977.
He was a member of St. Hedwig Church, the Rosary/Altar Society and Kiesel Pearl’s. He also, was a member of the DAV Chapter #9, North Eastern Michigan Rosarians, the American Rose Society, and a past member of the CCC. Albin enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, bowling and wood carving.
Surviving are two children, Kenneth (Kathleen) Lukowski and Joann Galovics; three grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Siemienkiewicz, Chris Galovics, and Andrew (Shannon) Lukowski; three step-grandchildren, Denise Spengal, Debra Buckner, and Tom (Ann) Buckner; 10 great-grandchildren, Evan, Aaron, Christian, Alesha, Zachary, Megan, Rachael, Emily, Connor and Dane; and many nieces and nephews. Albin was predeceased by six sisters and four brothers.
The funeral mass was celebrated Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 at St. Hedwig Church. Fr. Kevin Kerbawy celebrated mass and graveside interment followed in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Hedwig Church, Brian’s House, or a charity of donor’s choice. The Lukowski family would like to thank Kathy Bigelow and Dania Ciaciuch for sharing their time with Albin. Also, the staff at Brian’s House, Bay Special Care Center and Angie Eilf of Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan for their kind and compassionate care they extended the whole Lukowski family.
