Amanda Loree

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Loree

   J. C. and Amanda Loree were born in Livingston county, Michigan, Jan. 15, 1841, and Dec. 15, 1845, respectively. They were united in marriage March 4, 1862. The early part of their lives was spent near Howell, Michigan. About 28 years ago they moved to Gladwin county, locating near Hockaday. Later they moved to the state of Missouri, remaining there for six years. Returning to Michigan they located in Gladwin, where they spent the last years of their lives. They leave to mourn his loss, one son, George, adopted in infancy. Also Mr. Loree is survived by two half brothers of Perry, Michigan, and one half sister of Remus, Michigan. Mrs. Loreee leaves three sisters: Martha Vorce and Ann Vanalstine of Grand Ledge, Michigan, and May Smith of Lansing, Michigan, also a brother of Eagle, Michigan.
   Mr. and Mrs. Loree have always been noted for their attachment to each other which became stronger as age came on. They had often expressed a desire that one of them should not be taken by death and the other left. This desire was mercifully satisfied by their Maker and Redeemer. Mr. Loree was stricken down with paralysis Saturday morning, Feb. 18, at 9 o'clock, the same day about 10 o'clock p.m. she suffered a stroke of apoplexy. Their suffering was of short duration, for in spite of all loving hands and medical skill could do Saturday, Feb. 25, Mr. Loree passed to his reward; his wife following Monday, Feb. 27.
   Mr. and Mrs. Loree were converted about 50 years ago in the Methodist Episcopal church at Compton. They leave a host of friends and relatives who will miss them and mourn because of their loss. Services were held at the F. M. church, Wednesday, with sermon by the pastor Rev. W. J. Cross, assisted by Rev. E. T. Smith.
