Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Alta Lewis

   Alta L. Lewis, 76, of Alger, Michigan died March 11, 2005 at her home following a long illness. She was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Gladwin County to Joseph and Clara (Rogers) Doan. She married William Lewis in Brighton on March 30, 1975; he died in 1995. She was a retired factory worker from Kal Plastic in Ann Arbor. She lived in Gladwin County most of her life, having previously resided in Brighton.

   Surviving are three sons, Robert (Jan) Dallas of Alger, John (Carole) Dallas of Rose City, and Louis Dallas of Gladwin; one daughter, Clara (Robert) Fales of Bentley; 10 grandchildren and 17 Great grandchildren; eight brothers, Dale Doan of Gladwin, Ted Doan of Gladwin, Jim Doan of Standish, Tom Doan of Gladwin, Ai Doan of Gladwin, Ken Doan of Gladwin, Frank Doan of Gladwin, and Donald Doan of Florida; six sisters, Esther Thomas of Gladwin, Idell Irwin of Gladwin, Leota Doan of Florida, Sandra Doan of Florida, Anna Ball of Pickney and Joyce Thomas of Gladwin. She was preceded in death by her parents and 14 brothers and sister.

   Funeral services were held March 14 at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with pastor Brad Withrow officiating. Burial took place in Edwards Township Cemetery in West Branch. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands-West Branch.
