John Levec/Leveck
A veteran of the Civil war, John Levec, died at his
home in this city, April 18, of heart failure, age 70.
He was born in Washington county, Ill., Feb. 20, 1840,
and was married at Bellefontaine, O., Aug. 12, 1865,
his wife's maiden name being Mary Oden, who survives.
They came to Gladwin eight years ago. Mr. Levec served
in Co. K, 121st Ohio infantry, enlisting Sept. 11,
1862, and was discharged June 9, 1865. Funeral was
held at his house, Wednesday, conducted by Rev.
William Rumley, and the body interred in Highland
cemetery. Members of the G.A.R. were present to pay
their last tribute of respect to their departed
comrade.
