Ervin Leeck
Ervin A. Leeck, 76, of 2981 Nickless Rd., Gladwin, died Thursday, March 31,
in the Midland Hospital Center after a brief illness. Born in Alpena, Aug. 22, 1911, he moved
to Gladwin County in 1942. Mr. Leeck retired in 1971, as a mill-wright and a maintenance man
for General Motors Corp. He also farmed. He served in the Army during World War II and was a
member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Alpena and the Gladwin FOE 3292. Mr. Leeck and the former
Jean Yeager were married in 1942, in Skeels.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Anna Leeck of Alpena; one brother, Frederick of
Clio; and 6 sisters, Bessie Eagle of Mt. Morris, Evelyn Grablick of Flint, Anna Hubbard of Ypsilanti,
Shirley Zimmer of Philadelphia and Janet Smith and Ellen Meddaugh of Alpena. He was preceded in death
by his father and 4 brothers.
Rites were held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Dengler
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. A memorial service was held by the Eagles at 8
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
