Walter Knopf
Walter Knopf, 74, of 4855 Harding Ave., Waterford, died Friday, March 20,
Sun City Medical Center, Sun City, Fla., after a long illness. Born in Warsaw, Poland, Aug.
8, 1912, he moved to Detroit in 1923 and to Gladwin in 1925. Mr. Knopf moved to the Pontiac
area in 1951. He was an assembler at GMC Truck and Coach for 19 1/2 years until retiring in
1973. Mr. Knopf served in the Army during World War II and earned the Purple Heart and 8 Bronze
Stars. He was a member of the Pontiac VFW Post 1370, UAW Local 594 and the Wolverine Chapter 33
DAV.
Mr. Knopf and the former Maud Whitney were married Nov. 3, 1945, in Gladwin. Services were
held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Ed Abbott
officiated and burial was in the Rhodes Cemete.
