Daniel H. Knight
Daniel H. Knight was born in Somerset
county, Pa., June 25, 1842, and died at his home in
Gladwin March 20, 1917, at the age of 74 years, 8
months and 23 days. At the age of ten years he moved
with his parents to Athens county, O., and in 1862
volunteered in Company A., 92 regiment, O.V.I. He took
part in all the battles of the southwest and in
Sherman's march to the sea, and was discharged at
Washington, D. C., June 12, 1865. He was married Sept.
18, 1866, to Caroline E. Lewellyn and moved to Van
Wert county, Ohio, in 1867. From there he moved with
his family to the state of Washington March 4, 1898,
then to Gladwin, Mich., where resided until his death.
There are left to mourn his loss a wife, six
children; two brothers, N. D. Knight of Burton,
Kansas, Jacob Knight of Arbanaka, Ohio; one sister,
Mrs. Susan Lewellyn of Scott, Ohio; 14 grandchildren,
nine great grandchildren and many friends. Services
were held at the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon,
conducted by the Rev. John Killian. Interment in the
Ridge cemetery.
