Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
Betty Knight

   Betty J. Knight, 74, of Beaverton, died Nov. 12, 2005 at Saginaw Covenant-Harrison following a short illness.

   She was born April 18, 1931 in Rhodes to George and Ella Swinson. She married Daniel H. Knight on Dec. 28, 1948; he preceded her in death earlier this year.

   Betty did factory work and also worked as secretary for Sacred Heart School. She was a cook for the Townhouse Restaurant, and also was a seamstress and a caregiver.

   She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County, active in the Gladwin IOOF and Rebekahs Lodge, L.E.A., and a volunteer for the Beaverton Baby Pantry. She was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed Bunko, Bingo and cards with her family and friends. The best part of her days were spent with her family, especially her Great grandchildren.

   Surviving her are her children, Sandra (Allen) Seckman of Beaverton, Jack Knight of Phoenix, Arizona, Harry (Connie) Knight of Clarksville, Georgia, Donald (Kristen) Knight of Maryville, Tennessee, and Sheryl (John) Williams of Palmer, Alaska; 11 grandchildren and 20 Great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth King of Columbus, Georgia and Donna Woodruff of Beaverton; four brothers, Bill Swinson of Rhodes, Melvin Swinson of Midland, Bobby Swinson (her twin brother) of Midland, and Don Swinson of Hope; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Margaret Gary. She was predeceased by her parents; one son, David Lee; one sister, Leona Sheets; three brothers, Frank, Charles and Richard; and her special friend, Walter Holdorf.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 440 E. Cedar Avenue in Gladwin with Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin.

   Rebekah’s Lodge held a special service on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
