Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Clare Klien

   Clare Orville Klein, 88, a long-time resident of Gladwin, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at MidMichigan Stratford Village, Midland.

   He was born June 24, 1915, in Gladwin, to the late Harley and Gertrude (Foor) Klein. He married the former Mildred Hetherington on Dec. 19, 1936, in Pontiac and they shared 57 years before Mildred's death in 1993. Clare was a farmer in Gladwin Township. He worked for Dell Smith Furniture Store in Gladwin for many years, and Robinson Industries in Coleman until his retirement in 1975. Clare loved his church and attended faithfully. He took great pleasure in his grandchildren, David and Nicole, who lived close by. He enjoyed attending Nicole's dance recitals and their piano recitals, basketball games, track meets and especially David's baseball games at Gladwin High School, American Legion and Olivet College.

   Clare is survived by son, Greg (Elleen) Klein of Gladwin; daughter Yvonne (Don) Hall of Midland; son-in-law Charles Balyeat of Flint; sister Crystal (Harold) McAllister of White Lake; brother Ward (Stella) Klein of Gladwin; sisters-in-law Doris Klein of Arizona, Nellie Barsuhn of Midland and Irene Hetherington of Gladwin; brother-in-law Don Hetherington of Missouri; his grandchildren Brian Balyeat of Holly, Tamara Balyeat of Durand, and David and Nicole Klein of Gladwin; four great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, Kris (Doug) Fetterolf, Mark McKenna, Steven McKenna and Shawn McKenna all of Gladwin; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mildred; daughter Marjorie Balyeat; sister Gladis Alexander; and brother Ray Klein. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday Feb. 6, 2004, from the Gladwin Free Methodist Church. Pastor Phillip Hortop will officiate. Interment will be at McClure Cemetery, Gladwin Township immediately following the service. Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
