Fred Klassen
Fred W. Klassen, 61, of Gladwin, died Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Mid- Michigan Medical Center of Gladwin following an extended illness. He was born in Gladwin County on Oct. 6, 1944 to Frank and Ella Mae (Foote) Klassen. He married the former Nancy Cornell in Dec. 1973 and she survives. Fred was employed at Robinson Industries for 32 years and retired because of his illness. He was an active member of Oak Grove Log Church. Fred enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and especially liked telling jokes and interesting stories. In addition to his wife, Nancy, survivors include six brothers, Frank (Leah) Klassen of Eaton Rapids, Aaron (Kathy) Klassen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Toby (Joanne) Klassen of Baraga, Gary Klassen of Gladwin, Paul (Beth) Klassen of Alger and Vern (Suzanne) Klassen of St. Johns; a sister, Avis (Marvin) Blowers of Ashtabula, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be held at Sisson Funeral Home on Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Klassen officiating. Burial will be in Butman Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
