CHESTER KIRBY SR.


  Chester E. Kirby Sr., 75, of 3971 Denton Creek Rd., Beaverton, died at his home Thursday, Sept. 16, following a short illness. Born in Marshall, Ill., on October 27, 1906, he came to Gladwin Couty in 1965 from Flint. Mr. Kirby retired in November 1965 as a die setter for Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the All-Bright Shores Eagles Club 3655 and the Disabled American Veterans Gateway Chapter 134, Flint. He was married to Luella Voight on May 7, 1957, in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death November 17, 1976, in Beaverton.

  Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Chester Jr. of Crystal Lake, Arthur of Grand Blanc and Virgil of Flint; 3 daughters, Mrs. Virginia Vandivier of Flint, Mrs. Betty Coleman of Grand Blanc and Mrs. Mabel Frey of Oscoda; one brother, Herbert of Terre Haute, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

  Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Henry Lisst officiated and burial was in the Billings Cemetery. The All-Bright Shores Eagles Club held a memorial service Friday at 7 p.m.
