Jack Kinney
Jack Kinney, 70, of 57 Walnut St., Wooden Shoe Village, died Tuesday in the
Gladwin Area Hospital. Born in Columbus, Ind., on March 13, 1912, he came to Gladwin County in
1973 when he retired as a meat cutter for Hamady Bros. in Flint. Mr. Kinney served in the Marine
Corps during World War II and was a member of the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303. He was married to
the former Velma Foster in 1954 in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death in 1978.
Surviving are one son, EN3 Jack on the USS Forrestal in the U.S. Navy; and one sister, Mrs.
Christine O'Neill of Indianopolis, Ind. A military funeral was held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the
Mathews Funeral Home by members of the Gladwin County VFW Post. Burial was in the McClure Cemetery.
