Charles A. King
Charles A. King, 86, of 240 N. Arcade St., Gladwin, died Thursday, Jan. 5,
in the Hoover Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Warren. Born in Peterboro, Ont., Can., on
January 26, 1891, he came to the United States in 1901 and to Gladwin County. Mr. King enlisted
in the U.S. Army in 1917 and was discharged in 1919. He was a retired mechanic for the Detroit
Street and Railway Department. Mr. King returned to Gladwin County in 1966.
Surviving are one son, Charles of Richmond; one daugter, Mrs. Donna King of Detroit; 2 sisters,
Mrs. Margie Purdy of Victoria, B.C. and Mrs. Marie Pobanz of Gladwin; one brother, Martin of Kelliher,
Sask.; and 7 grandchildren. Services were held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home.
The Rev. William Stevens officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
