Andrew King
CIVIL WAR VETERAN, RESIDENT OF GLADWIN TWP., IS DEAD AT RIPE AGE.
Andrew King a veteran of the Civil war, died early
Sunday morning at his home in Gladwin township after
three weeks' illness and having been in poor health
for sometime. He was born in Washtenaw county March 1,
1843. He enlisted as a private in Co. K., Twentieth
regiment, Michigan infantry in 1862 and was honorably
discharged in 1865. He was married to Miss Elizabeth
Hoover Oct. 26, 1889. They moved to Gladwin in October
1909. After two years's residence they moved to their
home in Gladwin township.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3
o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church conducted by
the Rev. John W. Hayward. Interment in Highland
cemetery. Comrades of the G.A.R. acted as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, and four children. Two
brothers of Mrs. King of Mishawaka were present at the
funeral.
