SHORT ILLNESS TAKES MRS. KERN
Mrs. Lottie Kern, 81, of Gladwin, passed away Friday at the home of her son. Harvey, near Beaverton, following a brief illness. Born in Amsden, Ohio, February 16, 1883, the former Lottie Drake had been a resident of Gladwin County for 48 years. Her husband, A.W. Kern, died November 20, 1946.
She leaves 180 descendants. Survivors include four sons, George of Toledo, James of New Rochester, Ohio, Delbert of Gladwin, and Harvey of Beaverton; six daughters, Nellie Sampson, of Gladwin, Elizabeth Warner, of Valrica, Calif., Carrie Whitman of Royal Oak, Evelyn Clore, of Gladwin, Alice Lorenz, of Flint, and Bonnie Taylor of Valdez, Alaska; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hayes, of Gladwin; 51 grandchildren, 109 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. L.G. Washmuth and the Rev. Henry Hall officiating. Interment was in McClure Cemetery.
