Frank Kempl

   Frank I. Kempl of Rhodes died Aug. 7, 2006 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor of a combination bone marrow and leukemia cancer. Frank was the son of the late Frank and Julia (Hanak) Kempl.

   He married the former Wilma Willett on Aug. 19, 1950 in Bentley. Frank was a long-time member of the Estey Moose Lodge, the Albright Shores Eagle Lodge, and was a life member of the V.F.W., having been a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

   He later moved to Homer, Alaska where he owned and operated a charter fishing boat, retiring in 1984. Upon retiring, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his generosity and his offbeat sense of humor.

   Frank is survived by his wife, Wilma; two brothers, John Kempl and Lawrence (Loretta) Kempl, both of Estey; two sisters, Julia (Leo) Revoir of Bay City and Barbara (Richard) Solosky of Auburn; Wilma’s brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisterin- law, Peggy Kempl.

   Funeral services took place Monday, Aug. 14 at the Ware- Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel in Midland. Pastor Dave LaBeau of the Bentley United Methodist Church officiated. Burial followed in Gibson Township Cemetery in Bentley.

   Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Bentley United Methodist Church, the Estey Moose Lodge, or the charity of their choice.
