Richard Keller

   Richard Allen Keller, 70, of Coleman, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 surrounded by his loving family, at MidMichigan Medical Center- Midland.

   He was born Oct. 11, 1937 in Saginaw, the son of Warren and Helen (Dunlop) Keller.

   Richard married Luella Marie Hund May 24, 1958 in Beaverton. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He then joined the 460th Army National Guard in Midland for 17 years serving in Operation Desert Storm.

   He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1071 of Coleman and a member of American Legion Post #443 of Sanford. Dick was employed at Brown Machine in Beaverton for 32 years, retiring in 1997.

   He enjoyed traveling, old car shows, puttering in the garage, watching his grandsons at motorcycle races, listening to his granddaughter sing at functions and attending tractor shows and family gatherings.

   Richard loved to travel and visit with the many friends he met through the years, from camping at the River Ranch Resort and hanging out with Gary and John, to spending time with his brother-inlaw, George Pope, in Missouri. He enjoyed going to town and having coffee or a night time snack at Kay’s and visiting with everybody there, and he enjoyed sitting on the front porch with the neighbors watching the traffic go by. When Dick had the chance he would go with Gene to the local fishing hole. Richard is survived by his wife of 49 and a half years Luella of Coleman; two sons, Ken (Dawn) Keller of Beaverton and Dale Keller of Beaverton; one daughter, Karla (Craig) Sutton of Beaverton; four grandchildren, Kenny Keller, Sarah Keller, Jamie Longstreth and Justin Longstreth. He is also leaving many special friends at Midland Dialysis that he has met there in the past 11 years that he has been going. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Glenna Pope and Amy Methner.

   Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Jim Hoggard officiating. Burial took place in the Warren Township Cemetery in Coleman.

   Memorials are suggested to the Midland Renal Dialysis Center. He has touched many lives in the 70 years we have had him, and he will be greatly missed.
