Frank Katzer
PIONEER RHODES RESIDENT DIES
Frank Katzer, 82, pioneer Gladwin county resident, passed away at the home of a daughter
in Flint on Saturday, January 6th. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hope
American Lutheran Church in Rhodes with the Rev. A. Graf officiating. Burial was in the Bentley
township cemetery.
Born in Austria on November 26, 1862, Mr. Katzer came to this country as a boy of 15. He first
settled in Mio and later moved to Rhodes where he had been a resident for the past 52 years. At
the time of his death he was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. H. Summers, of Flint. He was
a member of the Hope American Lutheran Church at Rhodes.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Summers, of Flint, and Mrs. Phil Geroux, of Toronto, Ontario;
two sons, Albert, of Flint, and Frederick, of Rhodes; a brother, Charles, of Rhodes; and five
grandchildren.
