Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Arthur Johnston

   Arthur Clifford Johnston, 74, of 4075 W. Pratt Lake Rd., Gladwin, died Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Midland Hospital Center after a short illness. Born in Donaldson, Chippewa County, April 6, 1914, he moved to Gladwin County in 1976 form Ashtabula, Ohio. Mr. Johnston was an electrician for Union Carbide until retiring in 1976 after 40 years. He worked in Sault Ste. Marie for the company until 1965 when he transferred to Ashtabula. He served in the Army during World War II and earned the bronze star with clusters. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Gladwin United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Post 3676 in Sault St. Marie. Mr. Johnston and the former Jean Noble were married Aug. 16, 1942, in Roseville, Ga.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, George Johnston of Madison Height; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Heer of Muskegon; a step-son, James Molinaro of San Jose, Calif.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Stella Jones and Mrs. Thressa Johnson of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Elsie Neal and Mrs. Esther Boersma of Fair Oaks, Calif.; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

   Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Joel Hurley officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
