Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Earl Johnson

   Earl M. Johnson, 87, passed away after a long illness on Nov. 8, 2007 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.

   He was born on Dec. 4, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Andrew and Anna (Hagun) Johnson.

   He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II as a Lieutenant Commander. He was employed as marketing vice president for Chevron/Gulf Oil in Texas from 1945 until he retired in 1982.

   He married Pauline "Polly" Smith Dec. 27, 1984 in Florida. He had spent the last 19 years living in Gladwin County, previously residing in Oakland County. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Gladwin.

   He is survived by his wife, Polly of Gladwin; three sons, Steve (Marine) Johnson of Maryland, Raymond (Willo) May of Gaines, Michigan, Douglas (Donna) May of Westland; grandchildren, Larissa and Keith Zook of Maryland, Stephanie Johnson of Philadelphia, Scot May of Gaines, Michael and Angie May of Ohio, Eilene May of Livonia; and four great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Michael, Evan and Alyna. He is predeceased by his parents.

   Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin, with Pastor David Sprang officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Gladwin.
