Bernard A. Jeska
Bernard A. Jeska, 82, of Beaverton, Michigan passed away Sept. 16, 2003
at his home following a short illness. He was born May 3, 1921 to Alexander and Agnes Jeska
in Kawkawlin, and married the former Geraldine Fry on Sept. 23, 1947 in Bay City. The U.S.
Army World War II veteran retired from Bectal Corporation in 1983. He had worked as a heavy
equipment operator in Midland. He had lived in Gladwin County since 1962, having previously
resided in Bay City. Bernard was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Edenville, D.A.V.,
V.F.W. Post 7303, Knights of Columbus 12660, Gladwin Eagles Aerie 3292, Amvets, American Legion
Post 171 - Gladwin, and Local 324 - Freeland.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Beaverton; sons Paul (Linda) Jeska of Beaverton,
James Jeska of Beaverton and Dale Jeska of Beaverton; daughters Joan (Roger) Einink of Silver
Springs, Florida, Retha Parker of Beaverton and Nancy Alburg of Beaverton; eight grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; a brother, Al Jeska; sisters Dorothy Satkowiak of Kawkawlin and Evelyn
Shellagowski of Linwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David,
his parents, granddaughter Cynthia Flatt, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 18 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Edenville with Fr.
Raymond Moeggenberg and Sr. Mary Ellen McDonald. Burial took place in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery
in Beaverton. Visitation and a vigil service were held at Hall Funeral Home in Beaverton on Wednesday,
Sept. 17. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
