Lawrence Jersey

   Lawrence “Larry” Jersey, 78, of Gladwin, died Dec. 30, 2006 at Saginaw Covenant- Harrison, following a short illness He was born December 14, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to Glen and Dorothy (Smith) Jersey. He worked as a Die Setter for A.C. Sparkplug in Flint retiringon June 30, 1981.

   He has resided in Gladwin since 1982 previously residing in Mt. Morris. Larry was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was the past Commander for multiple years at posts 8236 in Flint; V.F.W. 11256 and American Legion 171 both in Gladwin.

   Larry married Julia Maxwell on March 10, 1990 in Beaverton, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 2005.

   He is survived by daughters Diane and Dave Williamson of Mt. Morris, Lucinda Jersey of Lolo, Montana, Barbara Sloan of St. Helen, Louise Shell of Walled Lake, Barbara and Jesse Brown of Midland, Anna Sykes of Beaverton, and Jolita and Tom Shaw of Gladwin; sons Wayne and Nancy Jersey of Millington, and Larry and Pat Jersey of Greenville, Tennessee; 28 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Bodfield of Burton; a brother, James and Beth Jersey of Montrose; and several nieces and nephews Larry was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Shirley, and his parents.

   Funeral services will take place Jan. 4, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home 440 E. Cedar Ave. Gladwin, Michigan.

   Visitation will be Jan. 3, 2007 from 12-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Diabetes.
