Mary Jackson
Mary Catherine “Kate” (Daniels) Jackson, 82, of Gladwin died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at MidMichigan Medical Center- Midland.
Mary Catherine was born on Nov. 16, 1924 in Howell, Michigan, to the late Francis and Margaret Daniels.
She graduated from Howell High School in 1941. On Sept. 27, 1947 she married Charles William “Bill” Jackson in Howell and moved to Midland, where they lived for 30 years and were members of the Blessed Sacrament Church. After raising six children and Bill’s retirement, they moved to Sugar Springs in Gladwin County with their daughter, Marie, in 1977, where they were avid golfers and made many dear friends.
She worked as an operator at Michigan Bell Telephone, dedicated many years to raising her family, and was a successful realtor in Sugar Springs for 12 years. She was an excellent golfer and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She often said her greatest accomplishments were raising six great kids and a hole-inone.
She was loving and compassionate, and will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have her as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will also be greatly missed by her many friends and other family members She is survived by her son, Thomas (Ruth) Jackson of Foxboro, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Michael and Brett; son, John (Sue) Jackson of Midland; grandchildren, Alan, Patrick (Holly), Kelly (Chad); great-grandchildren, Riley and Autumn; daughter, Diane (Tim) Dryzga of Midland; grandchildren, Kyle and Kristy; great-grandchild, Juliet; daughter, Peggy (Dick) Smith of Midland, grandchildren, Christopher and Benjamin (Shannon); great-grandchild, Ben Jr.; son, Robert Jackson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Grace, Claire and Caroline; daughter, Marie Jackson of Houston, Texas; grandchild, Wayne; and sister- in-law, Ivy Daniels of Howell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1983; baby Jackson in 1952; brother, Francis Daniels; and sister, Margaret Gravenstine.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Peter Gaspeny will officiate with interment to follow in Midland Cemetery.
Kate’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler St., Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m until time of mass.
