Carl Horner
Carl M. Horner, 87, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Montrose, died Sunday, June 5, 2005 in Florida. Carl was born Jan. 26, 1918 in Holcomb, Missouri to the late Preston and Ethel (Goodman) Horner. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. Carl married Louise Humpres on Feb. 27, 1943; she died on April 21, 1982. Carl was employed with General Motors for many years before retiring.
He was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, a life member with the VFW Post #11256, the Elks in Ruskin, Florida and Michigan, and also a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles. He loved dancing and singing and was an avid golfer. He also attended every Forest High School athletic event.
Surviving him are his daughter, Susan Johnson of Gladwin; sons, David Horner of Ocala, Florida, and Patrick Horner of Trussville, Alabama; his sister, Thelma Ray of New Port Richey, Florida; seven grandchildren and several Great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 10 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose with Rev. Eddie Phillips officiating. Burial was in Montrose Township Cemetery with graveside military honors under the direction of the American Legion Post #158.
