Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Wayne Hope

   Wayne A. Hope, 75, of Gladwin, formerly of Flint, died Saturday, June 11 at his residence.

   He was born Aug. 19, 1929 in Flint to the late Albert C. and Laura May (Carlson) Hope. He graduated from Flint Northern High School. Wayne married the former Wanda Wood on April 16, 1949. He was employed as a carpenter with the Flint Public Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gladwin. Wayne enjoyed woodworking, crafts and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

   Surviving are his wife, Wonda; three children, Susan (Darrell) Givens of Montrose, Wayne Albert II (Sandra) Hope of Swartz Creek, and Mark Richard (Kay) Hope of Swartz Creek; eight grandchildren, Laura, Wayne Duke, Chad, Jenny, Darcy, Jessica, Russell, and Cindy (Scott) Vetter; two Great grandchildren, Michael and Hope Lee; two brothers, Kenneth Hope of Texas, and Glen (Doris) Hope of Mt. Morris; and three sisters-inlaw, Alma Hope of Flushing, Jean Garrow of Flint, and Laurin Wood of Kentucky. Wayne was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Givens; brother, Ralph; and sisters, Garnet DesJardin and Lorine Edmonds.

   Funeral services were held June 14 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastors David C. Collins and Lynn Chappel officiated. Burial was in Montrose Township Cemetery.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund in Gladwin.
