Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Kenneth Hoesli
(9 AUG 1916 - 6 NOV 1998)

   Kenneth Hoesli, 82, of Gladwin went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin, after a long illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Graying, son of the late Christian and Nellie (Corwin) Hoesli. He grew up in Grayling and entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as a staff sergeant. Ken came to Gladwin after meeting Dan Woods and finding out they had motorcycles in common. They rode together on camping trips to Canada, Florida and even Cuba.

   Ken met the love of his life, Ruth Marie Griffin, at Huber's Dairy in Gladwin and they were married April 30, 1949. Ken worked as a journeyman plumber and pipefitter for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 85 for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Ken was extremely mechanical and could fix anything.

   A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he enjoyed his grandchildren, the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and giving rides in his 1915 Model T Ford.

   Surviving besides his wife, Ruth, are sons and daughters in-law, Richard and Therese Hoesh of Prospect Heights, Ill., Douglas and Susan Hoesh of Boyne City; five grandchildren, Christi, Rebecca, Aaron, Steve and Alison Hoesh. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos and Clarence Hoesh, two sisters, Dorothy Mallenger and Viva Schnelker, and three infant siblings.

   Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at First United Methodist Church in Gladwin. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. The Rev. Dr. Deane B. Wyllys will officiate.

   Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, 440 E. Cedar Ave., Gladwin, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to First United Methodist Church.
