Ed Hetherington
Edward O. Hetherington, 82, of 310 Ionia St., Gladwin, died Thursday Jan.
30, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Gladwin Township Oct.
28, 1906, he had spent most of his life her. He was superitendent of Public Works for the
City of Gladwin for many years. Mr. Hetherington was a veteran of World War II and a member
of the American Legion Post 171. He was married to the former Jessie Hawley Feb. 28, 1928,
in Finley, Ohio.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Warren of Gladwin; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn
Hamilton of Orange, Calif.; 4 brothers, Carl of Pontiac, Delmar of Bloomfield Hills, Don of
Los Angeles, Calif., and Charles of Gladwin; 3 sisters, Eva Gidcumb of Indiana, Nellie Barsuhn
of Midland and Mildred Klein of Gladwin; 2 granddaughters and a great granddaughter. Two sisters
and a brother preceded him in death.
Services were held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Sisson Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. George Coon
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
