Roland Hayes
Roland “Jim” S. Hayes, 74, of Gladwin died Feb. 14, 2007 at home after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1932 in Groveland to Russell and Leona (Spencer) Hayes Jim was a factory worker at General Motors, Buick Motor Division in Flint, retiring April 1, 1991.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Gladwin Eagles Aerie #3292 and Harrison Moose Lodge #2235.
He moved to Gladwin 13 years ago, previously residing in Florida.
Jim married Joyce Godden on Dec. 2, 1995 in Gladwin He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hayes of Gladwin; two sons, Chris (Chris) Garland of Saginaw, and Mike (Deanna) Garland of Hudsonville; four grandchildren, Jory, Trent, Trista and Kendall; one brother, Bruce Hayes of Gladwin; three sisters, Florence of Gladwin; Hazel of Flint and Carol of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Harry and R.D.
Cremation has taken place according to the wishes of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to MidMichigan VNA or MidMichigan Hospice of Gladwin.
