William Melvin Hawley
William Melvin Hawley was born in Gladwin March 18, 1886. He was the son of Lee Hawley, now one of Gladwin's oldest residents. William Hawley died suddenly of a heart at tack at his home near Ionia on Sun day morning, February 3.
He was married to Fay Cargon January 23, 1913. To this union nine children were born, Lloyd, Viva, Leola, Melvin, Virgil, William, Violet, Evelyn and Edwin.
He is survived by his wife and children, his father, Lee Hawley, four sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Edna Maxwell, Mrs. John (Mattie) Arnot of Bay City, Mrs. Abe Deremer of Pontiac, Mrs. Harry (Clara) Roberts, Wesley, Bert, Roy and Earl Hawley of Gladwin.
His funeral was held Thursday at 2 p. m. from the home of his sister, Mrs. Harry Roberts, of Gladwin, with Rev. Grant L. Jordan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, in charge. Burial took place in Highland cemetery.
