Henry Harkrader
Henry L. Harkrader, 82, of Beaverton, died June 1, 2005, at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans in Grand Rapids following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 30, 1922, to Leonard and Georgia (Maxwell) Harkrader in Allendale, Illinois. He was a veteran, having served in World War II as a staff sergeant. He worked as a machinist at Brown Machine in Beaverton, retiring after 35 years. He lived in Chase Ranch, California, before moving to Gladwin County 40 years ago.
He is survived by two sons, Alan (Janet) Harkrader of Auburn and Ronald (Donna) Harkrader of Davison; five grandchildren; nine Great grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Hudson of Hunter, North Dakota; two half-sisters, Dudie Carpenter of Woodland and Alice DeVries of White Cloud; a half-brother, Ray (Darlene) Harkrader of Belding; a stepsister, Betty Jo Simmons of St. Ignace; his caregivers/nieces, Georgia Kiger and Carol (Ron) Krahner, both of Gladwin; and a friend, Anna Taylor of Beaverton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest Harkrader and Leonard Harkrader; a sister, Betty Nettleton; and a step-brother, Don Beutler.
Arrangements are being handled by Hall Funeral Home.
