CLAIR C. HAMMOND


  Clair C. Hammond, 75, of Beaverton, died Aug. 19, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a long illness. Clair was born June 14, 1924 in Grand Bay, Alabama. He was an automobile mechanic and retired in 1986 from Presido Ford/Mercury and Beaverton Ford/Mercury. He was a veteran of WWII serving for the U.S. Navy. He lived in Gladwin County most of his life and was an avid bowler, fisherman and golfer. Clair was married June 3, 1948 in St. Louis, Michigan to Bonnie Bower.

  He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Beaverton; one son, Jim and wife, Denise Hammond of Beaverton; one daughter, Terry and husband John Noyes of Beaverton; five brothers, Robert of Beaverton, Kenneth of Bowie, Tex. William of Grand Bay, Alabama, Frederick of Midland, and Glen of Pontiac; five sisters, Betty Sessions of Grand Bay, Alabama, Shirley Savage fo Pascagoula, Mississippi, Nellie Lyons of New August, Mississippi, Etta Scarborough of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Mable Knight of Beaverton; and six grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Paul Kile officiating. He was buried in the Arbutus Cemetery in Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. .
