William Hall
William H. Hall, 84, of Gladwin died April 14, 2006 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born April 24, 1921 in Beaverton to Floyd and Arwilda Matilda (White) Hall. He married his wife Shirley on June 12, 1942 in Angola, Indiana; she passed away in 2004.
Mr. Hall lived in Gladwin County most of his life. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II.
He was a Funeral Director for 60 years, graduating from Wayne State University with a degree in Mortuary Science. He was the former owner and operator of Hall Funeral Home from 1958 until 1985, and also was the Gladwin County Clerk from Jan. 6, 1965 until Dec. 31, 1984. Mr. Hall was the past President of the County Clerk’s Association, a Gladwin Mason member, lifetime member of the Gladwin Rotary Club, 30 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving him are his sons, Dennis Hall (Janice Mienk) of Saginaw and Jeff (Coleen) Hall of Jerome, Arizona; his daughter, Teri (Kevin) Hawley of Toledo, Ohio; his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hall of Gladwin; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and five Great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis (Peggy) Hall of Elk Rapids and Donald (Ulra) Hall of Beaverton; and one sister, Francis (Richard) Ferrell of Gladwin. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; his son, Thomas Hall; and his daughter, Tamera Hall.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with Rev. Mary Jo Schuetz officiating. Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
