Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
George W. Haekett


   George W. Haekett, a pioneer resident of Pennfieid, died late Sunday, May 13, at his home of general debility. Mr. Hackett was highly esteemed and the community where he has so long resided feels his loss deeply. Five children survive, Mrs. Harvey Huggett and Wiliard Hackett of Pennfieid; Mrs. H. 0. Allen and Geo. W. Hackett Jr. of Battle Creek, and Mrs. Eose Burk of Gladwin, Mich. Funeral services were held at the home May 15 and the interment took place in the Hicks cemetery. Mr. Hackett had long been a member of the M. E. church and died in that faith at the advanced age of 83 years and five months. He left considerable property in the shape of a fine farm and personal property to his children. He was born in the ..state of New York, immigrating to Michigan with his parents when 14 years of age, having since that time lived in Penfield, Calhoun county. He was married in his 26th year. His wife died in 1873.
