Omer Grove
Omer E. Grove, 66, of Gladwin, died Monday, March 14, in Saginaw Veterans
Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gladwin, Aug. 8, 1921, he had spent his lifetime here.
Mr. Grove retired from Dow Chemical Co. in 1969 and operated Grove's Gas Station and Party Store
on N. State St. until about 3 years ago when he closed the business. He was a veteran of World
War II and a member of the Wagarville United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 171. Mr.
Grove and the former Beatrice Olson were married March 14, 1945, in New York.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael of Gladwin; one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Ilene)
Simrau of Gladwin; 4 brothers, Wilbur of Beaverton, Mervin of St. Helen and Holland and Mike of
Gladwin, Cecile Behnke of Ft. Mead, Fla. and Delvania Card of Beaverton; and 5 grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne
Jensen will officiate and burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery. An American Legion memorial service
will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
