Lelah Grove
Lelah S. Grove, 90, of Gladwin, died Thursday, May 8, 1997 in Gladwin following a long illness. Born April 10, 1907 in Clare County, she lived most of her life in Gladwin. She had been employed by the Gladwin County Schools as a school teacher, retireing in 1957 after 33 years. The former Lelah Spohn married Howard Grove Nov. 21, 1931 in Gladwin. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1977.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff and wife Linda of Beaverton, Gary and wife Judy of Columbia, Tenn.; three daughters, Gayla and husband Jack Gerou of Mt. Morris, Brenda and husband Robert Popham of Kinde, and Beverly Hall of Gladwin; four sisters, Winifred Ely of Westland, Velma McIntosh of Saginaw, Edith Gizicki of Garden City and Dorothy Beavers of Sanford; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Lynn Grove, Jan. 22, 1949; one brother; two sisters; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel with Elder Gene Lamb officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Gladwin. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Gladwin County Library.
