Basil Grove
Basil W. Grove, 70, of 905 W. Chatterton St., Gladwin, died suddenly Wednesday,
Sept. 3, at his home. Born in Sage Township Sept. 5, 1915, he had spent his lifetime here. Mr.
Grove was a self-employed plumber. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and a veteran of
World War II. Mr. Grove and the former Irene (June) Beech were married Oct. 20, 1945, in Butman
Township.,br>
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol Temple of Mt. Pleasant; 5 brothers, Wilbur
of Beaverton, Mervin of St. Helen, Omer, Holland and Mike of Gladwin; 3 sisters, Beatrice Smith of
Gladwin, Cecil Behnke of Ft. Mead, Fla. and Delavina Card of Flint; and one grandson. He was preceded
in death by a son, Kenneth, Nov. 4, 1969, a daughter, Paula, Dec. 29, 1985 and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Burton Kincaid
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
