Emma Gronda
Emma Gronda, 91, of 88 West River Rd., Gladwin, died Thursday, March 20, at the Midland Nursing Home after a long illness. The former Emma Doyle, she was born December 5, 1888, in Manton and was married to Fred Gronda on March 2, 1904. They moved to Saginaw in 1914. Mrs. Gronda moved to Gladwin in 1973.
Surviving are 4 sons, Earl of Saginaw, Robert of Freeland, Floyd and Everett of Gladwin; 2 daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Krauss and Mrs. Vleitta Merrow of Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Manshaw of Detroit; 18 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gronda was an active member of the Saginaw Audrea Francis Senior Citizens Club and treasurer and leader of the kitchen band for years. She was the Michigan Senior Citizen queen in 1968 and honorary life member of the Saginaw Historical Society, Blue Stars and Macabees.
Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Cederberg Funeral Home in Saginaw. The Rev. James Kavanaugh officiated and burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
