Melvin Greer
Melvin J. Greer, 86, of Gladwin passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at his home.
He was born March 7, 1921 in Gladwin Township to the late James and Eva (Edick) Greer. Melvin married Jeanne Carmichael on May 30, 1948 at Scott, Michigan by his brother William. He was a member of the Gladwin First United Methodist Church and the Gideon’s International.
Melvin lived on the farm where he was born and helped operate it until his death. He and his brother Amos owned and operated Greer Brothers Farm Implement for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife Jeanne; his children, Michael (Shelley) Greer, Stanley (Robin) Greer, all of Gladwin, Carol (David) Tolis- Bucklin of Kalamazoo, Luther (Jamie) Greer of Grayling, Daniel (Gaye) Greer of Colorado, Mark (Jill) Greer of Gladwin, and Richard (Melinda) Greer of Gladwin; 16 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Melvin was predeceased by brothers, Ray, Amos and William; sisters, Seneth and Velma.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at the Gladwin First United Methodist Church. Rev. Lynn Chappell officiated, and he was laid to rest in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gideon’s or give the gift of life by donating a pint of blood in Melvin’s memory.
