Beaverton Historical Society Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice

George Govitz
George M. Govitz, 54, of 4200 Woods Rd., Gladwin, died suddenly Friday, May 13,
in the Gladwin Area Hospital. He had undergone open heart surgery in September 1976. Born in
Beaverton November 1, 1922, he had been a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. He was a veteran of
World War II and was employed at Gladwin Machine Products at the time of his death. Mr. Govitz and
the former Ethel Martonosi were married May 15, 1948, in Gladwin and she survives.
Other survivors include 7 sons, George Jr., Terry and Randy, all of Gladwin, Greg, Allan, Martin
and David, all at home; 7 daughters, Judy, Jan, Lorraine, Joan, Theresa, Christine and Melissa, all
at home; a brother, Mike of Beaverton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Dupay and Mrs. Caroline Anthony, both of
Ohio, and Mrs. Anne Willey of California.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Castanier
officiating and interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Rosary rites were read Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
