Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Irene Gould

   Irene Gould, 99, a life long Gladwin resident and a patient at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home for the past year, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2006. She was born on June 3, 1906 in Gladwin to Charles and Mary (Cann) Babcock. She married Charles Gould in Mount Clemens on Oct. 6, 1923 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1983. Irene was a member of the Gladwin Church of Christ.

   Surviving are one daughter, Shirley (Glen) Thomas of Gladwin; five grandchildren, Darline Jones and Chuck Gould Sabin of Florida, Jan Gartee of Otter Lake, Dawn Woodruff of Arizona, and Alan Thomas of Gladwin; eight Great-grandchildren and seven Great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Laura Swanson of Clare and Minnie Patierno of Gladwin. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, Charles, and her parents, are a daughter, Evelyn; a son, Francis; a brother, Clarence Babcock; and a sister, Ida Elliott. Irene will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

   Funeral services were held Jan. 30 at the Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Highlands Cemetery in Gladwin. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Irene’s name may give consideration to either the Hospice of Gladwin or the Gladwin Church of Christ.
