ELMER E. GEDNEY
GROUT PIONEER IS BURIED SUNDAY
Elmer E. Gedney, 75 died Wednesday, June 13, after an illness of several years which confined him to his bed for the past 10 months. The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God church, and was conducted by Rev. James A. Davis. Interment was in Highland cemetery.
Born October 30, 1869 in St. Clair, Michigan, he came to Gladwin county with his parents in 1872 by way of a scow up the river from Midland and settled on a farm in Grout township, which he helped to clear and where he remained throughout his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Grace Haines of Gladwin in 1897. He held the offices of the township for a period of years.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Howard and Elwood of Gladwin; a daughter, Helen of Midland; and a brother, John Gedney, of Gladwin. .
