Joyce Gardner
Joyce M. Gardner, 71, of Gladwin, passed away June 17, 2006 at Bay Special Care Hospital in Bay City after a long illness. She was born July 22, 1934 to Nelson and Susan (Setter) White in Barrington, Mich.
She married Gordon Gardner in December of 1950 in Barrington.
Joyce was a postal worker for the United States Post Office and was a Tribal basket weaver for Michigan Basket Works. She was a renowned basket weaver for 24 years. She lived in Gladwin County since 1962. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Gardner of Gladwin; three sons, Mike (Christine) Gardner and Douglas (Karen) Gardner all of Gladwin, and Steven Gardner of Texas; one daughter, Rosa Gardner of Gladwin; three sisters, Ethel Corbets of California, Phylis Esch of Missouri and Dorothy Werers of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Barrows; and four brothers, John, Wayne, Elwin and Orlin White.
Funeral services were held June 20 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Rev. Mary Jo Schuetz officiated. Burial was at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Alpena.
