Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Dale Friesen

   Dale Mark Friesen was born Nov. 17, 1963 in Gladwin. He grew up in a Christian home with godly parents.

   The fourth of five children, he has two older sisters and an older brother as well as a younger sister Dale attended school in Gladwin all the way through graduation 1982. He was active for six years in the school’s band programs including the high school marching band. The highlight of his high school years was running He ran on the cross country and track teams during high school and during the winter months.

   The running probably as much as anything shaped the inner toughness and tenacity that carried him through the challenging years to follow.

   Dale accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in his home church at the age of 12 He tells us that he struggled for years with his commitment. He never rejected Jesus, and in the end the promises of our heavenly Father proved true. Dale loved Jesus and passed away comforted by the promise of his salvation.

   Dale continued his education at the Ohio Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio. He didn’t finish his degree, but rather joined the Air Force in July 1983. Dale studied the Vietnamese language at the Presidio of Monterey in California in order to perform his primary duties in the Air Force.

   Dale worked as an airborne linguist during his first assignment in Okinawa, Japan. He then spent two years in the Philippines where he met Agnes, his wife to be, in 1988. The remainder of Dale’s Air Force career took him back and forth between Fort Meade, Maryland where he worked at the National Security Agency and in support of the Air Intelligence Agency Headquarters, and Okinawa where he continued to fly the RD-135 RIV-ET JOINT, the premier intelligence collection platform in the world. He hopes all he did brought glory to God Dale and Agnes were married in Ellicott City, Maryland in 1991 They were blessed with two sons, Joseph Dale and Mark James.

   During his service in the Air Force, Dale achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Dale retired from the Air Force in 2003. Dale and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 2003 where Dale had worked for Titan Corporation, which is now L-3 Communications.

   Dale has enjoyed Gods creation here especially the challenge and exhilaration of fly fishing after moving to Colorado. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors in any activity that came up.
