Herbert French
SERVICES HELD FOR HERBERT FRENCH
Herbert French, 76, of Clare County, died Sunday at the Midland Hospital after a long
illness. Born in Huron County on June 7, 1891, he had lived in Tobacco Township 69 years.
The past year he had resided in Clare. Mr. French was a retired Dow employee and a veteran
of World War I. He was married to Bessie Dalton on Nov. 22, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Vivian Shaffer of Newhall,
Calif., Mrs. Lillian Wyman, Midland, Mrs. Maxine Kock, Chanute, Kan., Mrs. Laverne Hitsman,
Midland, and Mrs. Marian Rooker of Edenville; three sons, Leonard and James of Beaverton and
Clark of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Charles of Wisconsin, Jack of Florida and Elmer of
Midland; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Fairchild, Beaverton, Mrs. Hattie Crow, Grand Rapids, Mrs.
Meda Sauter, Bay City and Mrs. Edna Rhinebolt, Swartz Creek; 28 grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. from the Beaverton Church of the Brethren.
The Rev. Randall Roose officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery. The Hall Funeral Home
had charge of the arrangements
