Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Sonja Fogle

   Sonja J. (Smith) Fogle, of Beaverton, Michigan, died Friday, February 17, 2006 in Naples Florida. Born in Ypsilanti Michigan on November 20, 1936, Sonja was the daughter of Archie L. and Doris (Long) Smith. She is survived by her husband Allen S. Fogle; a son, Jon A. Fogle of Oley, Pennsylvania; a daughter Alison G. Devine, of Farmington Hills, Michigan; and a daughter Andrea J. Stevens of Saline, Michigan; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; and her brother, Paul B. Smith of Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice (Smith) Averill.

   Sonja was active in the communities where she lived. In Ypsilanti, she was a leader for the Huron Valley Girl Scout Council, a member of the Planning Commission for the City of Ypsilanti Michigan, a life member of the Ypsilanti Jaycees Auxiliary and in 1969 she was named as one of five Outstanding Young Women of Michigan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ypsilanti. In Beaverton she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Beaverton, serving recently as a deacon and as Moderator of Presbyterian Women, where she was honored with a life member. She was an active participant in a quilting group in Beaverton.

   A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church, USA, of Beaverton at one o’clock p.m. Rev. Karen Blatt will be the officiant.
