Elmer Flaugher
Elmer O. Flaugher, 81, of 10851 Townline Lake Rd., Hamilton Township, died
Monday, Oct. 31, in Saginaw V.A. Hospital after a short illness. Born in Mt. Pleasant, May 30,
1907, he moved to Clare County in 1974 from Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Flaugher operated Flaugher Heating
in Mt. Pleasant and Clare County. He was a master sergeant during World War II. Mr. Flaugher was
a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin; Gladwin County VFW Post 7303, serving as a
trustee; active in the Boy Scouts in Mt. Pleasant; and a founding member of the Civitan Club of
Mt. Pleasant. He spent 37 years on the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Dept. and reached the rank of
captain. Mr. Flaugher was married to the former Elizabeth Hude, Sept. 12, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant.
She preceded him in death Feb. 17, 1983.
Surviving are a son, George of Weidman; one daughter, Augusta Flaugher of Kincheloe; a step-son,
Alfred Selich of Millington; one brother, Glen of Mission, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 9 great
grandchildren. Services were held Friday at 11 a.m. from Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Donald Dengler officiating. A graveside military service was held by the VFW post at the Ridge
Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
