Rachel Fike
Rachel Fike, 74, of Midland, Route 1, died at 11:30 New Year's evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edgar Whitmer. She
had been ill for 18 months, suffering from a chronic heart condition. She was born in Preston county, West Virginia, February
19, 1865. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3rd, at the Brethren church in Midland, of which she was a member.
Rev. John L. Van Meter officiated. Burial was in the Coleman cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Whitmer; a sister, Mrs. Edgar Stewart of Blissfield; five brothers, Nosh Fike of St.
George, West Virginia; Ira of here, Job of Jasper, Edwin and William of Coleman. There are also four grandchildren. Rachel
Fike was a former resident of Beaverton vicinity before moving to Midland with the Whitmer family.
